STABLE HAND by A.L LISTER

Updated: Nov 13, 2020

The Braided Crop Ranch is looking for stable hands. But this is no ordinary horse ranch. They cater to men with a certain interest. An interest involving harnesses, tails, and trainers.

Managed and expertly run by registered psychologist, Adam Marsland, the Ranch is a safe place for the expression of sex positive and kink positive needs and fantasies.

Jensen Moriarty is desperate for a job. He can handle horses. In fact, he’s a pro at it. Too bad the BCR doesn’t deal with real horses. But they do have “ponies”.

If Jensen can wrap his head around what the BCR actually stands for, he may have the opportunity to expand his resumé and experience something completely unexpected in the process.

I wasn't sure what the hell I'd gotten myself into when I agreed to review Stable Hand by A.E Lister because I've never read a pony play book but I laughed so hard and had the biggest smile by the end of chapter one that I immediately called my friend just to tell her about the situation I was in and how excited I was—kind of like Jensen.

Jensen was adorably clueless and I knew this was going to be a wild and hilarious read as soon as Adam introduced him to the livestock. It was more than just hilarious though. Jensen, who had no idea what he was walking into but stayed anyway because you only live once, took to life as a stable hand well and formed true lasting connection with two very different men.

Luke who needed a firm hand in the stable in a bid to outrun past trauma.

And Noah, sweet and obedient who by his own admission had lived a fairly boring life.

These three came together in an explosion of chemistry. But they weren't all kink and no substance. The relationship they built was as normal as anyone would want. It had highs, lows and those sweet periods of stability where they just talked and cuddled.

The cast of characters from the ponyboys, to the trainers and other stable hands were all interesting and added a depth Stable Hand would have lacked otherwise.

I recommend this book for people who are already fans of pony plan and those new to the sub genre. It was a wonderful introduction to a kink I never thought I'd like reading about.

I can only leave 5 stars but I'd leave more if I could.

Fantastic job A.E Lister.
