If you win the bet, we’ll let you disappear. If you lose, you’ll be trapped on stage forever.

I'm definitely straight, but when rock god Eli Steele offers me the opportunity of a lifetime in exchange for being his fake husband for a year, I can't say no. That's how I find myself sharing a bed - and more than a few kisses - with the lead singer of Blood Money. All I have to do is stay focused on my work and pretend to be in love with him. Easy, right?

I took a stupid fucking bet and now I have to convince Charlie to fall for me without using mind control. He's straight, but the bigger problem is that he's human and I'm not. Once he finds out I'm really a vampire, will he be able to look past my fangs and see what's in my heart?

Shot In The Dark had an interesting concept but the mechanics just didn't work for me. The time line was a mixed up too. In chapter one Eli was 260 something. Then in chapter 19 he was 290 something.

Anyway, after Eli confessed to being tired of the lifestyle of a Rock God, his band mate and friend Drew made a bet though it was more like a deal. If Eli could meet a human and fall in love with them in a year, they would all go underground for a couple decades aka esenchally die.

Eli and Charlie meet and hatched a plan to pretend to be in love.

Charlie was supposed to have two weeks to come to a decision (did he or did he not want to go along with the plan) before Blood Money went on tour. It only took him a day to decide. Then, unless I missed something, they were on the road a day or two later even though they weren't supposed to leave for two weeks.

The band members were aware of the bet (and who Charlie was as they had picked him out as the human Eli was supposed to fall in love with) but didn't seem suspicious when Eli showed up with Charlie claiming they were in love and married within days of the deal being made.

Over all, aside from the issues mentioned above, it was a cute story about a vampire and human falling in love. It was an interesting enough story to keep me reading till the end with well rounded characters and some hot as hell sex.
