GINGERBREAD MISTLETOE By AMY AISLIN
The last thing Jeff wants is to spend time with the man who totaled his car—the one he spent years restoring with his late father. But if he wants to resurrect his childhood town’s annual outdoor hockey tournament, he’s got no choice.
The last thing Mika wants is to work with the guy who took off right after the accident, without ensuring he was okay. And working together on organizing Jeff’s proposed tournament sounds like a complete nightmare. He’s got enough on his plate after surviving cancer.
Sparks fly as they’re forced to work together, but is that enough for them to set their differences aside and pull off the tournament in only two weeks? Or will they prove to be immune to the magic of Christmas?
Gingerbread Mistletoe by Amy Aislin had everything—a horrible first meeting, a startling second meeting, and all the reluctance and sexual tension anyone could ask for. Plus, cream filled snicker-doodles.
Jeff was a good guy under it all. He was also a workaholic who was lonely. The one month a year he takes off—December—he usually enjoys in LA. But, after the car he lovingly restored with his now deceased father is "totaled" he's spending Christmas in his home town, hoping to find his father in long forgotten places. It's there he comes across Mika again—the guy who "wrecked" his beloved car.
Mika, who is working as an event organizer for the Christmas Festival in his home town, has had a rough year. Surviving cancer isn't easy. It's no surprise he doesn't remember Jeff right away—not when he met Jeff on arguably the worst day of his life.
The pair are forced to work together towards a common goal and slowly the dislike turns into a whole lot of like because Mika realizes Jeff is more than a grumpy, workaholic with a grudge and Mika is more than the idiot who smashed into his car.
As they grow closer and Jeff works to woo Mika things start to look up for the pair.
It's not long before Jeff is doing everything in his power to keep Mika close while Mika is fighting just as hard to keep some distance between them because as the saying goes, "once burned, twice shy."
In the end, with a little conviction and a lot of Christmas magic, the pair get their Happy Ever After proving that a bad first impression isn't always the end all be all.
