CRYBABY by MARINA VIVANCOS
Jason knows that sleeping with your best friend isn’t a good idea. Especially if he’s never slept with another guy before. Especially if you kind of, maybe, get turned on when people cry.
Not that he’s going to make tall, beefy, Russian Sasha cry. Not that Sasha is going to want Jason to make him cry. Jason is just going to push all his lovey-dovey feelings and dark desires down and forget about them.
Repression works, right? No way this is going to end in disaster.…
Oh, wow. Crybaby was unlike any story I have read before. Its told from Jason's POV. We never see what Sasha is thinking which I think could have added a lot of depth to the story. Sasha was an interesting character who obviously had a complicated back story we never really learned about. In fact, we never learned a lot about either character because the book was hyper-focused on there relationship which was not a bad thing because it was a well crafted short story with lots of heat—like a lot of heat. They spend a lot of time naked.
I've never read a story about a crying kink but I really enjoyed it and will definitely be seeking out more novels that feature it. What I enjoyed most about the kink and this book is Jason didn't get off on making Sasha cry in pain but from sheer pleasure which was sexy as hell.
For such a short story, with only one POV, Crybaby was exceptional. Definitely worth the read.
When Marina was a child she couldn’t sleep. Night after dissolving night she just couldn’t sleep. Nothing much worked – until she started making up stories in her head. Suddenly, the transition into unconsciousness was a smooth dive into calm waters. Marina is currently in a period of sleepless upheaval, and she hopes writing down the stories in her head will cast the same spell it did years ago. You can find her being malhumorada on Twitter.
